A converter which maintains size of video and quality?

I want to convert some videos from mp4 to avi or wmv so I can edit them on windows movie maker. Every converter I use changes the size of the screen and decreases quality; could anyone tell of a converter which maintains these two aspects please?Thank you in advance.~J
