Can I turn a router into a receiver?

Can I turn a router into a receiver? I just moved out of my dorm to my parents house for the summer. There is already a wireless network in the house and I want to know is there a way I can turn my wireless router from school into a wireless receiver, so I can connect my computer and Xbox 360 to that instead of paying for a wireless adapter. My router is a Netgear and my parent's router is a dLink (if that matters).

Check the manual if you can set it up as a wireless bridge - Wifi is bi-directional so there is a small probability it will work.
