comercial dvd's tend to be dual layer so have aprox 9gb of information...use something like dvd shrink or ripper or my favorit winavi that can rip then convert to an divx(avi) file usualy about 700mb but still in high quality...if its just small parts of the film you want then just copy that chapter( in the video ts folder, several big vob files in sequential order like 1.vob, 2.vob etc), convert it to an avi then use windows moviemaker to trim and edit what you need...of course if the dvd is copy protected then you shouldnt copy the files unless for your own personal use ..... dvd shrink, dvd ripper or magic dvd wil defeat copywrite protection if you want to make backups of films you own to keep the origionals safe...pinnacle videospin is a better option than windows moviemaker i find and you can download a fully working time limmited version but no matter what you do film crunching is very processor and time consuming thing...i usualy let mine run overnight or whilst at work

answer: Jobs time: 1970-01-04 18:00:16I recommend that you use HandBrake to rip the DVD's. Handbrake is freeware and it works for both mac and windows, It will recognize the different titles and you can choose which title you want to rip.But if it's copy protected, then you can use DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink to remove the copy protection and after that you can use HandBrake to convert the dvd to mp4, avi or any other format. All of them are free from charge, no watermark, you can download them here:http://www.dvdtopreviews.com/article/free-dvd-ripper-burner-converter-software-collection.html if that doesn't work, you can use aimersoft to convert DVDs to any regular video formats, it is able to process copyright protected DVDshttp://www.dvdtopreviews.com/dvd-ripper-review-windows/aimersoft-dvd-ripper.html
