How much video can I shoot with a 8 gb SD card?

I am going to Mexico for two weeks. My camera is a Canon, but I'm not sure what model it is. All I know is that it can shoot on tape and on a SD card. So how much can I shoot?

you need to find out a whole lot more about your camera before leaving!if it shoot tape, then the SD card is most likely just for still photos. the codec used for videotape is entirely different than the codecs used for flash card recording, so i doubt that it does both. tape will give you much better quality as it has a datarate that is 4 times that of SD cards. tape should always be in the SP mode, so one tape is good for 1 hour. if it were me, i would take a dozen tapes.
