I cannot upgrade my iPod touch to iOS4?

My ipod touch is a 32GB 3rd generation, but when I pressed check for update button in itunes, it said that my version (3.1.3) is the current version. Why doesn't it work?

The iPhone/iPod Tough OS 4 has not been released yet. Yes, it will be out sometime on June 21st 2010 but the time at which it will be available is still a slight mystery. When OS 3.0 was released it was sometime around 1pm Pacific time on the date of release. No word yet on official release time. Just keep checking periodically throughout the day.

The update is coming around 10am Pacific Time, and that is around...5pm in UK but we can expect delays because the servers will be full.So you will probably be able to download it at 6pm.
