I need to find an HDMI in and out reciever for surround sound that works with my current speakers and PS3?

I need to find an HDMI in and out reciever for surround sound that works with my current speakers and PS3? I have a PS3 and a 5.1 insiginia home theater system/DVD player reciever. The receiver has no 'in' ports and only one 'out' port (just red yellow white cables). Is there any way I could find another HD reciever with HDMI 'in' and 'out' ports and still use my current speakers to hook up to my PS3? Or do I have to go and buy a whole new home theater system?

Answer Question

Many of those cheap HTiB's (home theater in a box) have unique connector for the speakers. It simplifies the hook ups b/c they market those things for the masses at a cheap price. So the connections will be colour coded and they usually won't match another system. That complicates matters b/c it forces you to buy a new set up or throw it all away & start over from scratch. As it has been said here so many times, those HTiB's are not good theater systems. In fact I don't even classify them as a good product. Oh you'll see reviews on them, but they are for the masses. Real home theaters are not those things. They use a dedicated receiver for decoding, separate speaker systems w/ custom cut to length wiring, and separate DVD players. This allow for the flexibility for expansion. Now as you can clearly see from you dilemma, that is the problem. I don't mean to be rude, but stop being a cheap skate. Buy the proper gear for your needs and stop buying imported garbage.

This set up will allow you to have the needed inputs for what you have now & in the future. There is no reason why you cannot get 10+ yrs of use from this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_700HTR1/Yam…

I have a similar set & I love it. I have expanded on it and have it set up for maximum sound. It provides a realistic theater experience w/o the strain of cheap sounding speakers hurting your ears.
