Is there a way for me to get surround sound?

Is there a way for me to get surround sound? I have a 22" HD TV with 1 HDMI port 2 SCART sockets but no Optical input or Output. I want to get surround sound for my Xbox 360 and TV. I have not got a surround sound system yet but i would like to know if it is possible if i can get one and how i would have to connect it all up. Someone please help.

Connect optical cable from Xbox to sound system for surround sound, not from TV to sound system.

Well, you have the video parts needed, now you need the audio parts. It's simple actually, a receiver to plug the 360 into & use the HDMI out put to the TV. Now your in business. But understand this, it doesn't come cheap. Oh you could buy a Walmart home theater in a box special, but it will sound like crap, be cheaply made, & not flexible for future expansion.
