Is this normal for a blueray movie to do this?
Is this normal for a blueray movie to do this?...?
Just bought my first Blueray movie (Dark Knight):D
The first scene really blew me away! The clarity, the great image etc.. but after that it changed. for the first 10mins of the mvoie (the bank seige) There are no black bars at the top and bottom. After the bank seige black bars (the widescreen bars) appear at the bottom and top. Then during other random scenes it will go back to full screen and back to widescreen again :( While the picture is in full screen it is AMAZING!!! .. When it goes back to widescreen its better than dvd.. but only just. :( My blueray player is a ps3 btw (dunno if that helps)

answer: Taran time: 2011-10-23 03:26:00This was the same in IMAX theatres. Only some scenes were filmed with IMAX cameras and these are a narrower aspect ratio than the rest of the movie. The screen goes from 2.39:1 to 1.78:1 for IMAX scenes.
answer: GH time: 2010-10-31 18:02:08"Presented theatrically in both standard 35mm and IMAX formats, 'The Dark Knight' is framed here in alternating aspect ratios. The majority of the film is 2.40:1, while the IMAX-filmed segments open up to 1.78:1."
