Klipsch ifi vs Bose Companion 5?

Klipsch ifi vs Bose Companion 5? I'm looking for high end computer speakers and I've narrowed my selection down to these two choices. The Klipsch ifi and Bose Companion 5

I'm upgrading from the Logitech z5300e which I thought were very boomy speakers.

I'm looking for powerful sound in movies and in music.

I realized that Bose gets bashed for cheap materials and EQ modifiers but purely from a listening stand point, if you just closed your eyes and played both which of these will better rock my socks off. I also realize that for a similar price range i could get bookshelf speakers and an amp...etc. but i just want one complete package that's easy to set up for college.

I like my bass deep and tight with more of a kick than a boom. I'm willing to consider any other speakers in a similar price range. I'm simply looking for the best of the PC speakers before you upgrade to home theater

thanks!!

Answer Question

Get the Bose of course!
The Bose Rocks!
Who cares that they use cheapas materials and EQ mods --- it sounds goood is the important thing.
Listening soundpoint: - they are best... except when you compare.

If you can get the Klipsch ifi - as they are a discontinued product... get it, and get the Bose Companion5 from the Bose store.
Truth will come and prevail. Let your ears decide.
Compare them side by side and keep the one you like.
Who knows, you may like the ifi more or you may like the Companions more.
I for one think Bose is the BEST - cuz with the materials they use, their size of satellites: little 2" twiddlers, NO tweeters, NO midwoofers and still the sound is GREAT!
They also use chipboard for their subwoofers - and they still sound awesome!!! They are able to use $10 worth of material and make them sound as good as a $5000 competitor.

Also, consider this: Bose systems are in the Sistine Chapel, Ferarri, Infiniti and Mazda... even the Staples center uses Bose systems --- SO THEY MUST BE GOOD! Good enough for them, good enough for us!

Think about the OOOOOs and AAAAAAhhhs that you'll get from your friends when they find out you got a Bose system - a $500 one!!! and looks nice!~!

Klipsch ifi looks a little funny. They are odd - why use such materials like Titanium tweeters and Aluminum woofers, and MDF wooden box for their sub... when you can skimp out on $material$ and get the same and arguably better BOSE sound?? Klipsch is not smart... they should use paper speakers like Bose - and not put tweeters, nor midwoofers... and save the money and spend it on MARKETING their NAME --- SO they can compete with Bose... afterall - who know's Klipsch vs who knows Bose? and what's good sound without the Name??

Furthermore, why spend $150-$200 on the ifi, when you can spend tripple on the Companion5?? - your friends are gonna think you are cheapp!

GET the BOSE! even if the ifi's sound 10X better --- cuz in the end, if you look good, Bose makes $$money.
And all other brands aspire to be Bose: sell cheap stuff for lot$ ... make more money!!!woooohhoooo! That's what they are in business to do - all business wanna make $$!

Oh- and Bose is made in USA! - the back says China - they really mean MA, USA.
Better than Klipsch being made in China. Stay away from products from china.

Hope this Helps!

The Klipsch will be so much better. I myself own one of their computer systems and let me just say, your need for punchy bass will be satisfied. In addition, they will actually have highs as well, unlike bose.

I own a pair of Bose Companion 5 computer speakers and I am very pleased with their overall performance. I recommend Bose. I have nothing negative to say about Klipsch, they are a fine option. The Bose excel with DVD movies and music on CDs. Listening to music on itunes the depth and clarity is not as crystalized compared to a disc recording. However, the sound is in no means bad. The other point to take into consideration, is the eq setting needs to be suitable for small speakers. All small speakers have their limits when trying to reproduce digital dynamic range. Bose recommends against eq settings coming into play, I recommend that you look at the link below on this matter. Critics will argue and correctly so, that an equalizer should never be entered into the equation. However, this very argument underscores how subjective quality sound can be to the consumer. I am very satisfied with the eq settings. Listen to vocals, too. All types of music is beautifully reproduced with the Companion 5. Yet, vocals are definitely a love hate, deal breaker for sound quality.
The Harmon Kardon Sound Sticks have a deeper richer sound than the Bose. However, word on the street is that they are a 2-3 year speaker system, then they fall apart, even with light use. The Focal XLS computer speakers are expensive and one of the finest computer speaker systems money can buy. It is a superb, superb sound. The down side to Focal is they are made in France, sold at the Apple Store, if something goes wrong, you have a problem. On one occasion i wanted to listen the speakers and they were broke, on the showroom floor, not good. Which leads me to my highest recommendation, Bowers and Wilkerson (B&W) computer speakers I truly love this speaker brand. If you were to listen to a set including the B&W Zepplin which I have listened to, and if you made a knee jerk decision to purchase right now. You would not have buyers remorse and it will be a very respected and popular pick.
In a related matter, I am also a big believer in getting electronic gadgets refurbished. I went to a store to purchase a friend a 8g ipod, I asked if they had any returns, they had two. One box was opened the other unopened, I got 10% off the list price for the unopened box. The same for computer speakers. This little fact, is a game changer on a good buy no matter the brand. Let me know what you choose.

Best.

I guess it is true that Bose is an American company. This is an excerpt of Bose Corporate file "The mid-1990s also saw Bose undertake a $150 million expansion of its corporate headquarters in Framingham, Massachusetts, known as The Mountain for its commanding view of the countryside. The expansion included construction of a new six-story, all-glass-facade, ultramodern headquarters building, which had room for 800 employees and was completed in 1997. At the same time, the company phased out its factory in nearby Westboro, Massachusetts, citing the high cost of manufacturing in that state. (The company did continue to maintain a small manufacturing operation at the Framingham campus.) The production at Westboro was transferred to facilities in Hillsdale, Michigan, and Columbia, South Carolina. By the late 1990s, Bose had eight manufacturing sites, including the three aforementioned along with sites in Yuma, Arizona; Sainte Marie, Quebec, Canada; San Luis Río Colorado and Tijuana, Mexico; and Carrickmacross, Ireland."

And last but not least Bose is a research company.

Bose is a formidable company worthy of your consideration. Is it the best? Not necessarily, neither is Klipsch, Boston Acoustics, Carver or Rotel. Geneva Labs and Theil can make a strong argument that they are the best. While the aforementioned companies may not be best by statistical data, materials or pedigree the question that needs to be answered is what sounds good to you and what can you afford towards purchasing the best, if money is a factor. If not Lexicon will put them all to shame, that is if the difference can be drawn between Lexicon and Thiel, Thule, Magnaplannar, B&W, Hertz and Geneva Labs. It is these companies by reputation and product pedigree are definitively the best. So Klipsch and Bose are not close. Nonetheless, I stand by the facts as presented and recommend you consider Bose because I like Bose and I read. Objective points of view are always superior when taking into consideration an informed decision. I have provided you an objective point of view. I recommend that you purchase B&W.

This just in, refurbished Bose Companion 5 speakers $315.00 on Amazon. On Ebay Klipsch ifi speakers can be had for $300.00 so you have no case to rest. If my math is correct, that is a difference of $15.00. I guess the facts are stubborn and your estimates are unsubstantiated and unintentionally exaggerated. This is a stunning development to your argument, evidence.
